Earth strike by Ian Douglas

The first in the Star Carrier series.
This series could have been shorter with judicious editing. There were too
many repetitious discourses making no allowance for our intelligence or
memories. I found there were too many theoretical physics and mathematical
references that were repeated far too often. It was an American story set in
space where the Americans can do no wrong whether going in guns blazing or
subverting world politics. I was interested enough in the thin thread of
galaxy spanning aliens so I persevered but skipped a lot of 20th Century science
history and other repetitive expositions with barely a loss in plot following.
Only for info geeks and military addicts or those desperate for a science fiction
series.
